I'm having issues with Virtual Input for macOS

After installing the NDI Virtual Input app and its Camera Extension on macOS, you may find that you still can't view your streams when selecting the virtual NDI Camera.

A common issue that results by having multiple versions of the NDI Camera Extension installed on your machine, below are instructions on how to fix it:

Removing old NDI Camera Extension versions from your computer:

1

Uninstall NDI Virtual Input

Delete NDI Virtual Input from your applications folder or remove all NDI Tools from your computer.

2

Reinstall NDI Tools

Download the latest NDI Tools version from our website and install it on your computer.

3

Launch NDI Virtual Input and Uninstall Camera Extensions

Open NDI Virtual Input once more and instead of clicking 'Install Camera Extension', start by uninstalling the existing Camera Extensions:

Click 'Settings' on the menu bar, followed by Uninstall Camera Extension.

Uninstall Camera Extension in the Settings tab on the menu bar.

This step is important because your machine might have multiple versions of the NDI Camera Extension installed and running at the same time, which may cause issues with your system's ability to detect streams on the NDI virtual camera.

4

(Optional) Check system installed extensions and their status

Open your terminal app and type in the following command:

systemextensionsctl list

You should see a list of Camera Extensions on your machine and their status, similar to the following example:

5

Restart your computer

Restart your computer to fully uninstall all existing NDI Camera Extensions from your machine.

6

Reinstall NDI Virtual Input Camera Extension

Open NDI Virtual Input and proceed with the initial setup steps by installing a fresh version of the NDI virtual Camera Extension.
