# Pre-certification Checklist

When a device is ready for certification, the following must be completed or included:

* [x] **The device passes pre-certification requirements**\
  Communication with the Technical Account Manager or Key Account Manager will ensure that the technical requirements (latency, features, etc.) are passed before being sent in for certification's last steps.
* [x] **Prior test results from Licensee certification** \
  We want to ensure that when we certify, we get results similar to those tested. These can be included in the case the certification team or the account manager creates.
* [x] **Testing Environment**\
  We need to ensure the licensee tested the device in a way that wouldn’t introduce additional delay or connection issues. Typically, we want to know:

- How the device was tested. If special consideration was given to ensuring the device could pass the technical requirements, we want to apply the same consideration when testing it in our lab.
- Equipment and specifications the device was certified with. We've found that in some instances, something easily overlooked, such as a monitor refresh rate or the speed of a network switch, can cause a device to pass or fail. We want to ensure that our testing is as accurate as possible in a real-world environment.
- NDI SDK version for sender and receiver.
- Additional testing parameters. Examples: Was it tested with Discovery server? Was it tested for only 3 minutes or 3 days? Was other equipment running at the time of the test that may have influenced results, or was it isolated?

* [x] **Operating instructions or manual**\
  A device sent in for certification must have a manual or instructions on operating it, ideally the same instructions included with the final shipment. A PDF or link would suffice in the case as well so the certification team understands how to operate it.
* [x] **Necessary equipment**\
  If the device is POE[^1] only, requires a certain power supply, or has certain requirements such as specific voltage or amperage, notify the certification team before sending it in or include the necessary power equipment along with the device. If it’s a camera with removable lenses, please include a lens.
* [x] **Marketing images and description**\
  Usually, when a product is certified, we announce it relatively soon after and prefer to use approved images and messaging to maintain brand cohesion.

[^1]: *Power over Ethernet* (PoE) describes any of several standards or ad hoc systems that pass electric power along with data on twisted-pair Ethernet cabling.
